Noorder breadth ‘protects’ clients with fences against visitors – Friesland

The fences were placed around the courtyard at the end of the afternoon on Friday. Noorder Width speaks of a difficult decision, but says that health and safety now have priority.

The freely accessible inner garden has been cordoned off to prevent people from getting too close to each other, Noorder Width reports. The extra measures have been taken against the visit to patients of Noorder Width Rehabilitation. In the location next to Leeuwarden Medical Center, the elderly often recover from hospital admission.

According to Noorder Latitude, visitors have not sufficiently taken into account the distance of one and a half meters prescribed by the government in recent days. According to the elderly care organization, visitors came too close to residents through open windows.

“The national measure to no longer allow visits to residential care centers in the Netherlands has proved difficult for many people. Logical, because not being able to embrace your neighbor is one of the most difficult things there is. However, this strict measure must be strictly enforced, because only then can vulnerable clients be protected from the corona virus, “Noorder Width reports in a press statement.

Several family members and relatives of the residents react furiously to the rehabilitation residential care center. They think the measure is going too far. Due to the placement of the fences, not everyone can contact their loved one through the window.

Noorderwide is investigating whether fences will also be placed around public grounds at the other fifteen Frisian care locations.
