(fg) A mobile vaccination team was attacked on Wednesday in the Prohlis district of Dresden. On that day there was a public call for vaccinations in the citizens’ hall.
The alleged perpetrator threw the team with a fireworks and fled after the fact. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the attack. However, the vaccination campaign had to be canceled.
Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert was horrified and described the attack as inhuman and stupid. Meanwhile, the corona pandemic in Dresden is increasing. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Social Affairs reported 12,431 new registered cases in Saxony; again a new record. As reported by several media outlets, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) is now planning a forced, complete lockdown for all people in Saxony, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not. Gastronomy, trade, art and culture, events as well as schools and day-care centers are to close completely by December 9th.
There were first discussions in the afternoon with the head of the Federal Chancellery, Helge Braun. Further measures must now be awaited.
