non-traditional races arrived on Android (first impressions)

We must praise successful optimization. Even on the less powerful Xiaomi Mi Note 10 with Snapdragon 730G and 6GB RAM, the game runs on the second highest graphic setting completely smoothly and after switching to the highest setting, the frame rate is kept just between 25 – 30 FPS. As for official requirements, developers state only a minimum amount of RAM, 3 GB. The graphic design may not reach the full current peak, but it is definitely one of the best you can see on Android for racing games.

The unconventional controls of Project CARS GO do not suit everyone

We come to what Project CARS GO is trying to differentiate from the current competition – control. Forget the frantic twisting of your phone in an attempt to get bullyed as fast as possible, or sore thumbs from constantly tapping the right or left side of the screen. No, in Project CARS GO you leave the steering wheel fully in the hands of your virtual racer. After the classic mini-game at the beginning of each race in the form of holding the right speed or burnout, you will only be in charge of shifting, accelerator and brake. Everything is extra solved by a system of gates located along the track. So while passing through the blue gate, just tap the screen at the right time. If you hit the red gate again, you have to hold your finger on the screen until you reach the green gate, where you can remove it again. And yes, even in these cases, timing plays a role. For the whole race, you will meet, for example, just a little around 10 gates and in the case of a drag race even less.

We must admit that even though we were very curious at Project CARS GO, we take away mixed impressions from the first play. This combination of CSR Racing and Forzy Street did not convince us that the three-year wait paid off. Yes, the graphics are nice, (some) the tracks also have their charm and there is a decent line of licensed vehicles. However, at least in our eyes, this does not balance the boring gameplay in combination with the set financing model. Of course, Project CARS GO can be seen as an easy game to kill for a few minutes a day, which was perhaps the intention of the creators themselves. However, here the game comes across the fact that you spend more time than in the race itself in the menu and while loading.

How do you like Project CARS GO?
