A life without church? This was unimaginable for a long time and was even considered a sin. In 1970, almost the entire population was Christian, half Protestant and half Catholic. Since then, a profound change has taken place that has now reached a historic turning point: for the first time ever, people without religious affiliation are the largest group in Switzerland. This is what the ones published today show Figures from the Federal Statistical Office from 2022, it is the latest data available.
