The 2025 budget ensures that the Canton of Zurich remains financially strong and makes targeted investments in future-oriented projects. The government council is prioritizing investments to strengthen Zurich’s competitiveness and attractiveness as a business location in the long term. At the same time, the growth of the canton should be accompanied by careful measures.
The draft government advice, including an addenda, calculates expenses of 19,740 million francs and income of 19,777 million francs in the income statement, which corresponds to a surplus of 37 million francs. With the changes, the balance in the income statement improves by an additional 149 million francs, so that the surplus in the application of the Finance Commission amounts to a total of 186 million francs . This additional income strengthens the financial stability of the canton.
The federation wants the budget to be implemented regularly and more transparency in administration. The job growth in the canton should be focused on key activities to ensure efficiency and trust among the population.
The parties strongly reject the blocking position of the left parties, who want to block the 2025 budget. If the budget fails, an emergency budget would come, which would have a terrible impact on the canton and the workers. In addition, the economic stability of the canton would be threatened and the basis for investment would be weakened. Instead, courageous decisions are needed to strengthen our canton de Zurich as the economic and living center of Switzerland.
The 2025 budget shows: With a clear course and a strong strategy, Zurich remains a role model for wealth and quality of life. The fiscally responsible federation is committed to ensuring that the Canton of Zurich meets the challenges of the future – for the people and companies who want to live and work successfully here.
