Non-Invasive Technique for Swollen Legs: Endosphères Compressive Microvibration

Swollen legs are a very common yet overlooked problem, for which today there is a non-invasive technique. In Italy, 1 in 10 women is affected by lipolymphedema, a progressive and painful volumetric increase in the thigh and leg, and particular vibrations sent to the leg tissues via rotating silicone microspheres effectively combat the problem. The treatment is called “Endosphères Compressive Microvibration” and has been shown to reduce the symptoms of the disease and improve the patients’ quality of life. It is provided as a public facility at the University of Urbino, in the Institute of Physiotherapy and the hope of the experts is that it can be made a public and reimbursable method. After two treatment sessions a week for a month and a half, the treatment reduced pain by 46%, peripheral edema by 5% and body mass index by 4%. This is highlighted by an Italian study that reports the effects of the new non-invasive method. The research is presented at the XX World Phlebology Congress UIP2023 in Miami.
“Lipolymphedema is a very widespread disease and in Italy it affects up to 10% of women of all age groups – notes Professor Pier Antonio Bacci, professor of Aesthetic Pathologies in the Master’s course at the University of Siena and the Humanitas Consortium of Rome – It first manifests itself as cellulite which is often associated with lymphedema, a stagnation of lymph in the skin tissues.
This leads to lipolymphedema, with a progressive and painful increase in volume of the thigh and leg, leading to a disproportionate accumulation of adipose tissue in the lower limbs, called lipoedema. Often the fat is not limited to the legs but also affects the abdomen or arms. It is a pathology that is underestimated and often confused with simple cellulite or with, more or less serious, being overweight. It actually makes your legs so swollen and heavy that even the simplest daily activities become very difficult. It must be combated through early diagnosis and subsequent preventive treatments. Compressive microvibration is a non-invasive method that helps to achieve these objectives perfectly, especially if associated with the right lifestyles.”
