Non-formal education: efforts to bring adults back to school

“It is our responsibility to help adults who have not attended school and children who have dropped out of school to reconnect with the path to school because it is never too late to learn”, informed the Minister of Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and Literacy Schools during his visit to the re-education centers of the capital to ensure the effectiveness of the andrago-pedagogical start of the school year. For the Minister, everyone must be enabled to acquire the skills necessary for socio-professional success.

The Mama-Elombé re-education center, in the fifth arrondissement of Ouenzé, welcomes 20-year-old adults who want to learn, according to Gladys Moussa, a teacher who works there. “We invite those who hesitate to come and raise their level, especially because the courses are free”, he urged.

It should be remembered that adult re-education efforts are a way for Congo to implement UN Sustainable Development Goal 4. This objective aims to ensure access to quality education for all, on an equal footing, and to promote lifelong learning opportunities.
