Non-commodity: Ukrainian farmer destroyed hundreds of kilograms of cucumbers

In the Kherson region, a farmer decided to destroy the harvest of cucumbers

The entrepreneur was unable to sell the grown vegetables, since wholesale buyers offer one hryvnia per kilogram of cucumbers.

In the village of Kopani, Belozersky district, Kherson region, a farmer destroyed the harvest of cucumbers, which he could not sell due to the collapse in prices for them. He posted the corresponding video on Facebook.

According to the entrepreneur, he was unable to sell the grown vegetables, since wholesale buyers do not want to buy them at a normal price, offering one hryvnia per kilogram of cucumbers.

At the same time, he said, wholesalers explain the low price by a non-commodity type of product: supposedly, cucumbers have “not such flowers” and “poor-quality thorns”. However, according to the video, the discarded vegetables look quite normal.

“And there is no need to write about what should have been taken to the orphanage,” the farmer signed the video.

In the comments, users of the social network condemned the entrepreneur’s actions, saying that it would be better to sell vegetables on the market by yourself, than to give them for a pittance to dealers or throw them away.

Recall last year in Spain, farmers also destroyed the harvested crop due to a sharp collapse in vegetable prices. In particular, cucumbers and other fruits and vegetables were seized from the market.
