This year, the awards for activities, work and achievements in Latgalian culture will be presented for the fourteenth time. The aim of the Latgalian Culture Year Award is to summarize the best, brightest and most important achievements and events in Latgalian culture last year, to honor the most active representatives and promoters of Latgalian culture, as well as to promote and encourage the development of creativity and cultural diversity in the future.
Bonnuk 2021 will honor the performance and achievements in 2021. The criteria for evaluating the applicants are the quality of the applicant’s performance, activity throughout the year, the resonance caused in the region, country or on a larger scale, Latgalianism and / or carrying Latgale cultural values, the applicant’s sustainability – impact on Latgalian cultural processes in the future.

This year, 109 applications were submitted, which were evaluated by the jury, which included the recipients of previous years’ prizes, media representatives, representatives of the prize organizers, public activists of Latgalian culture and invited experts in the respective fields, whose daily life is not related to Latgalian culture. The jury evaluated the submitted nominees in two rounds – the first is an extramural round, in which all submitted applicants are evaluated, but the second is also a remote face-to-face round, in which the jury members discuss and evaluate already 30 nominees. With Boņuk The 10 candidates who received the highest number of points in both rounds are honored for the clay figurines. Awards For a lifetime contribution to the development of Latgalian culture the winner will be announced publicly in mid-February.
Unlike last year’s award ceremony, this time in person at the Latgale Embassy Gors viewers will also be invited. The award ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jānis Skutelis. Groups will delight viewers live and live on TV Without VAT, Muosys, Jakob Noiman Band, Varang Nord, Callers, musicians Ūga, Patrisha and Dināra Rudāne, as well as in concert Wake up brother! the ensemble, which unites well – known Latgalian musicians.
