Nomadic Creations: Nest’s Traveling Shows in Fameck and the Forest

In search of traveling stages, the Nest, the national cross-border drama center of Thionville Grand Est, turned to the towns of the region. He found an open door at Fameck. Three shows will be scheduled this year, the first in November. The last one, Carbone, will take place in the forest!

Olivier Jarrige – Today at 08:00

Last January, the Nest thought it would no longer have premises at the start of the school year in September. The wooden theater needed work. So he embarked on a “homelessness” program. In other words, if you can’t play at home, why not be hosted elsewhere? The approach is not only pragmatic. It also corresponds to a desire for openness and renewal of audiences.

Since then, the Nest has gained a year of respite. But the seeds of homelessness were sown, they took root in Aumetz, Uckange, Villerupt, Manom, Courcelles-Chaussy… but especially Fameck. The city will host three shows! It will be the bridgehead for these nomadic creations, promised to be renewed between 2024 and 2026.

“We are a city where we don’t necessarily go to the theater, even though we have the demand,” explains Karima Moumene, culture assistant. You bring shows, we locals. » But not only that: a whole communication around the event, classes for the show for young audiences, technical maintenance and… a forest. Just that. Read to the end.

“The cultural offering has almost doubled”

“We are sharing, the Nest enters into the dynamic of what we want to do,” continues the assistant. In Fameck, in 5-6 years, the cultural offering has almost doubled. Today, we have 30 events per year. » The Nest shows remain in the local spirit, price-wise. Where we usually pay “between €3 and €5”, this time it will be “free for under 8s, €8 for others”.

The “connivance” is established, the timetable is set, the understanding is good, there remains one detail: the validation of this agreement between the City of Fameck and the Nest. This will be during the October municipal council.

Funny shows for all audiences

The first show will be offered in November. Hamsters don’t exist was commissioned by the Nest from Antonio Carmona. It is aimed at a young audience aged 8-12 and is built around adult lies, separation, imagination and resilience.

At the end of January, place The family is growing , by Marie Dompnier and Marie Desgranges. A “very funny” play around a simple question: what is a family? We will also find her in Aumetz on February 2.

And the forest, then? She will form the setting and will be the heroine of Carbone , a creation of the Syndicat d’initiative, a Bordeaux theater company. See you at the end of May for a round trip between Neanderthal and Anthropocene, in a connection with nature. The artists will spend two weeks putting on the show in the woods. 300 people are expected. We’ll come back to that.
