“Nokia XR21: The Ultimate Durable Smartphone with MIL-STD810H Certification”

HMD Global introduced a new durable series, Nokia XR21, which was designed for the most demanding conditions. The manufacturer even refers to it as “the smart equivalent of the legendary Nokia 3310”. The body of the phone is made of 100% recycled aluminum, the durability of the display is ensured by Gorilla Glass Victus. The novelty boasts MIL-STD810H certification, which guarantees that the phone will survive a fall from 1.8 meters to the ground, immersion to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to one hour, or resistance to splashing water at a temperature of 80°C and a pressure of up to 100 bars . And that’s the pressure at which fire hoses burst…

Of course, the “regular” IP68 and IP69K certifications are also included, thanks to which the phone can handle temperature fluctuations in the range of -20°C to 55°C. The display is provided by a 6.49″ IPS display with a Full HD+ resolution, a brightness of 550 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate, which, thanks to the increased sensitivity, can be operated even with wet hands or through gloves. According to the press release, the phone will also have a one-year warranty for replacing the display with a new one. however, we do not yet know the exact conditions.

The phone is equipped with a 4,800mAh battery, which should keep it alive for two whole days. The manufacturer guarantees that even after 800 charging cycles, the remaining capacity of the battery will not drop below 80% of the original value. The maximum output power via the cable is 33 Watts.

Loud speakers and superior warranty

The main sensor located on the plastic back has a resolution of 64 Mpx, assisted by an 8 Mpx wide-angle lens. The camera can rely on night modes, artificial intelligence or combining photos from both sensors. Cameras are protected by Gorilla Glass DX+. The selfie camera located in the centered aperture has a resolution of 16 Mpx. On the body of the phone we can find a side fingerprint reader, a USB-C connector, a 3.5 mm jack, a slot for two SIM cards and loud stereo speakers (96 dB).

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G chipset, which is followed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Nokia XR21 is promised by the manufacturer for four years of monthly updates and three years of Android operating system updates. But there are practically only two subsequent generations, because the phone will run on Android 12 out of the box. We take the update to the already quite common “thirteen” as a matter of course, and you will get two years of other major system updates.

The novelty with the Nokia logo will also be offered in the Czech Republic, in black and green color variants. You can add an extra year from the manufacturer to the standard two-year warranty, but we do not yet know the final price and exact availability of the phone.
