Nokia has signed a contract with the American space company NASA for the world’s first development of mobile networks on the moon, the company reports in a press release.
The mobile company will use the company’s LTE / 4G technology to build and distribute the network solution by the end of 2022. The agreement is part of NASA’s plan to travel to the moon again by the end of the decade.
The mobile network will provide critical communication options for various data transmission applications, which include elementary command and control functions, remote control of rovers on the moon, real-time navigation and streaming of HD video, the message states.
