“Nokia” has just announced the launch of a streamingthe Streaming Box 8010. Why put the sign in quotes? Because the manufacturer is the Austrian company Streamview, which has a license to use the Nokia name on its devices, such as televisions.
A slightly lightweight Android TV box
What the brand calls a case streaming is a device that runs on Android TV (version 11), with the ability to install applications from streaming classics like Netflix, Disney + … or Apple TV.
The package is very complete in terms of connectivity, with three USB sockets – a USB 2.0 socket, a USB 3.0 socket, a USB-C socket -, an HDMI output (compatible with 4K but first non-HDR), an anachronistic composite output, digital audio output, Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6.
The purely technical part, on the other hand, seems a bit light: the brand highlights the Amlogic S905X5 system on chip, but the latter integrates only four low-power cores (Cortex A55), with only 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB conservation. . Finally, Nokia obviously includes a fairly standard remote in the box and indicates that a Bluetooth controller is provided as an option.
Too expensive for what it offers
On paper, the box ticks the classic boxes of entry-level TV boxes, which are around fifty euros. But the problem here is that the advertised price is 159 € (the official site offers it pay € 129), which seems far too high. For this amount you can buy the latest model Apple TV (Wi-Fi) oa Nvidia shield, if you prefer Android TV. Both offer more features, exemplary monitoring, and unprecedented performance.
