“We’re still a successful mobile phone brand in most people’s minds, but that’s not what Nokia is about anymore,” said Lundmark. “We want to launch a new brand that focuses on networks and industrial digitalization, which is completely different from the original mobile phones.”
At the same time, the company presented a set of new strategic pillars to accelerate its growth, Bloomberg reported.
Nokia was once the world’s largest mobile phone maker, but sold those operations to Microsoft in 2014 to focus on networking equipment and a huge portfolio of mobile device patents.
In 2016, Microsoft sold the production of Nokia phones to HMD, which was founded by former Nokia senior executives, and FIH Mobile. Currently, Nokia brand phones manufactured by HMD are available on the market.
