Nokia denies it will use HarmonyOS for its phones

Jakarta

Nokia rumored to be launching a flagship phone that uses the operating system HarmonyOS belong Huawei. The news was immediately dismissed by Nokia and Huawei.

This rumor originally came from The Paper, a media from Taiwan, which said that Nokia will launch the X60 series that uses HarmonyOS. Not long after, Nokia denied the rumors and said they were committed to offering Android to users.

“Our commitment to providing the best Android experience will remain steadfast,” said Nokia as quoted by Gizmochina, Friday (2/7/2021).

Huawei also made the same objection. In an official statement to China’s Global Times, Huawei said rumors about Nokia phones using HarmonyOS were false.

As previously reported, Nokia is said to be launching two phones that use HarmonyOS, namely the X60 and X60 Pro. Both will be the first non-Huawei devices to use the operating system.

Reportedly, the brand held by HMD Global has adopted HarmonyOS to increase its share in the Chinese market. It is possible that the Nokia X60 series that uses HarmonyOS is only intended for the Chinese market.

The report from Taiwan also revealed leaked specifications of the X60 series. Regardless of the operating system used, this phone seems to be designed to be a flagship phone Nokia for 2021.

The Nokia X60 series is claimed to have a high-spec curved screen with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The phone is also rumored to have a 200 MP camera and a 6,000 mAh battery.
