(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announces that it has become the first telecommunications company to manufacture fiber optic broadband networking electronics and modules in the United States for use under the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program ( BEAD).
By manufacturing fiber optic technology in the United States, Nokia will be able to provide its products and services to critical projects such as BEAD that aim to bridge the digital divide, helping to further contribute to economic growth and job creation in the country.
“Many Americans still lack adequate connectivity, putting them at a disadvantage when it comes to accessing jobs, education and healthcare. Programs like BEAD can change that. By bringing manufacturing of our fiber optic broadband access products to the United States, BEAD participants will be able to work with us to bridge the digital divide,” commented Pekka Lundmark, CEO of Nokia.
