Noise and fights in the big cities:

Sunday night was a hectic night for the police. In Oslo, several of the city’s parks were filled with thousands of party-happy people, who paid no attention to neighbors or infection control rules.

Police estimate that between 2,000 and 3,000 people were gathered at Sankt Hanshaugen on Sunday night.

– This has led to the police seizing temporary equipment in a number of music facilities. It is starting to empty there now, says operations manager Svein Christian Lie in the Oslo police district to TV 2 at 03.30.

According to the police patrols on the spot, the situation on the spot was poor with regard to infection control.

– They have not been good enough to maintain it and not kept enough distance. We of course provide advice and guidance on that, says Lie.

Also in Frognerparken, very many people were gathered. A little over 1 o’clock the police decided that enough was enough.

– Here we just stopped the music. Then it started to dissolve, says the operations manager. The police were also notified of an incident of violence in the park, but were unable to find the victim.

Unusually restless night

While the weather in Oslo has lured people out to parks, the rainy weather in Bergen means that the party-goers have mostly stayed indoors. This has led to many complaints from annoyed neighbors.

– We have received many complaints into the sea regarding disturbance of the night calm. There are now up to 36 complaints, which is far, far more than the previous weekends, says operations manager Tatiana Knappen in the West police district to TV 2.

She says that they have been up in a similar number of complaints since the pandemic started, but that it is one of the exceptions.

– There have been extremely many messages about this last night. These 36 messages are all from different places, so we have also received several messages in the same place, says the operations manager.

The police have moved out where they have had the capacity, but have not had the opportunity to prioritize all the complaints. No one has been reported in connection with the party noise.

Basketak in hotels

Just over 1 o’clock, the police received a message from a hotel in the city center, where a fight was going on.

– There were several involved in the fight. It happened a little in one of the rooms, a little outside and a little in the corridors, says Knappen.

The police moved out and quickly gained control of a suspected protagonist in his 40s. In addition, there are two victims, one in his 30s and one in his 20s.

– This is probably a party in a room that has ended in a disagreement, which I do not know the details of. Intoxication is in the picture as well, it must be said, says the operations manager.

The accused is now in custody and will be questioned on Sunday.

Mass fights

Also in the Inland, the police have had their struggles with night to Sunday.

– From midnight until now, 24 assignments have been logged with disturbance of the night calm and loud music in the Inland, the operations center informs at 03.35.

The South-East police district had to deal with a mass fight in Gvarv, where between 10 and 15 people were involved. Two people were taken to the emergency room.

No one was seriously injured, but two people were taken to the emergency room for a check. A car window has been smashed. The occasion must have been a conflict earlier in the evening. All involved expelled, police say.

In all, the South-East police district has received 60 complaints about disturbances of the night calm.

– In addition to this, there are around 15 complaints about noise from the Russians. It is clear that summer is on its way, says operations manager Erik Gunnerød to TV 2.
