For the Liégeois of NOIR Artist, it is like a consecration, even if the two brothers who make up this artistic association certainly do not intend to stop there. Judge for yourself: since this Wednesday NOIR Artist has left his studio in Liège to land in the world capital of art and the cradle of street art, New York, for the time of a solo exhibition and a display in Times Square , nothing less !
After making a name for himself for creating a mural for David Bowie’s latest album, visual artist Lucien Gilson and his brother and manager, Martin are ready to conquer the international scene. This New York detour also seems set for this duo largely influenced by American culture, graffiti and pop art in their various artistic projects, from paintings to drawings, including mural art.

For this first foray across the Atlantic, NOIR Artist has quite simply taken over the most emblematic district of the city: Times Square. A work specially created for the occasion will thus be displayed on the famous billboards as part of the “Cube Art Fair”, organized by the Belgian Grégoire Vogelsang, from 6 to 10 September.
In his design, Lucien Gilson wanted to pay homage to the city by including its popular attractions, from the Chrysler Building to the Wall Street bull. He also used gold leaf for the first time as a background, a way to highlight the black lines, his signature, and add a touch of elegance. The inscription “Dream Big”, written in capital letters, crosses the work. The two brothers want to remind people how essential it is to dream big and not be afraid to believe in yourself. Their American epic proves them right.
Ambassador
In addition to Times Square, Lucien and Martin Gilson exhibited at the “Philippe Labaune Gallery”, located in the Chelsea district. It was important for them to also be able to present physical works.
For NOIR Artist, this opportunity represents a real springboard to the international scene. In recent years, their work has increasingly attracted the attention of connoisseurs of the art world. This is thanks to a keen sense of detail, a game of contrast between black and white and the inspiring messages behind each of the canvases.
The siblings have already exhibited in Singapore, offered a performance in Dubai and been invited to numerous galleries across Belgium and France. And the two brothers are far, very far from stopping there. They have just received the title of honorary citizen of the city of Liège and ambassador of the province of Liège to promote local talent abroad.
