Noel Gallagher is ready to turn over a new leaf and cut down on his drinking. The legendary Oasis member recently expressed concern about his future if his current habits continue. At 57, Gallagher admits he would be “lucky” to celebrate his 60th birthday if his drinking remains the same.

Comparing his situation to Mick Jagger, the singer doesn’t hesitate to question longevity models like that of the legendary Rolling Stones frontman. “I mean, they’re probably in their 70s now, right? The way I feel right now, I’d be happy to make it to 60,” he said during an interview with Matt Morgan for his podcast. He goes on to point out that “just because Jagger’s walking around at 103 doesn’t mean everybody else can.”

Side effect

To put things in perspective, it’s worth noting that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are both 81, Ron Wood is 76, and Charlie Watts passed away at 80 in August 2021. In all fairness, Noel Gallagher admits to having gained weight recently, a side effect of his excessive drinking. “I should give up alcohol, let’s be clear,” he admits.

The musician also announced that he was taking a break after a long tour with his band, High Flying Birds. During the final show at the UK’s Y Not festival, Noel Gallagher shared with the audience that he and his bandmates were “tired of seeing each other.” “Tonight is our last night of touring. We’ve been on tour for over a year, and we need to get away for a bit,” he said.
