In Germany, clubs are already training again and if it is up to Maurits Hendriks, the training complexes in the Netherlands will soon open again. The technical director of the NOC * NSF would like to put the doors ajar again.
“We think that top sport is ready,” Hendriks explains Studio Sport of the NOS if asked about the possible relaxation of the corona measures. “We have developed protocols, in consultation with RIVM. Top athletes are able to train in small groups in a protected environment, while observing the rules, of course.”
“If the cabinet gives space, we can deal with it in a good way”, Hendriks is clear. “We can also gain the experience that may help later to get the rest of the Netherlands back into sports and exercise.”
On Tuesday, it is expected that there will be more clarity about the possible relaxation of the measures, when Prime Minister Mark Rutte speaks again at a press conference.
