In a significant move, the Thai group acquired the Plaza Athénée in New York for 205 million euros. The Forte group purchased the establishment 60 years later, with the aim of bringing the prestige of the palace on Avenue Montaigne to the Big Apple. Although the project did not succeed at the time, it has now been revived by a new group a century later.
