Nobu Hotels Partners with Asset World Corp to Launch Plaza Athénée Hotels in New York and Bangkok

Nobu Hotel Chain Collaborates with Asset World Corp to Launch Plaza Athénée Hotels in New York and Bangkok

The renowned Nobu hotel chain has partnered with Asset World Corp (AWC), the largest real estate group in Thailand, to relaunch in New York and launch in Bangkok two hotels under the name of Plaza Athénée. These initiatives, however, have no current link with the prestigious Parisian palace located on Avenue Montaigne, nor with its owner, the Dorchester Collection.

The Plaza Athénée brand is making a comeback in New York and arriving in Bangkok. Although it is a well-known name in the hotel world, these new ventures are independent of the famous Parisian palace. The collaboration between the Nobu hotel chain, founded by businessman Nobu Matsuhisa, and the Thai real estate group AWC aims to launch the world’s most remarkable hotels in strategic locations in New York and Bangkok under the Plaza Athénée brand.

Leveraging AWC’s expertise in real estate development, the two partners will develop two buildings with a rich history, situated in some of the most visited cities in the world.

In a significant move, the Thai group acquired the Plaza Athénée in New York for 205 million euros. The building, which has been closed since the pandemic, has a history dating back to the 1920s and shares an intimate connection with its Parisian counterpart. The Forte group purchased the establishment 60 years later, with the aim of bringing the prestige of the palace on Avenue Montaigne to the Big Apple. Although the project did not succeed at the time, it has now been revived by a new group a century later.

The collaboration between the Nobu hotel chain and AWC signifies a strategic partnership to create exceptional hotels under the Plaza Athénée brand. With their combined expertise and resources, these two industry leaders are set to redefine luxury hospitality in New York and Bangkok.
