This production takes us back to the 90s in Mexico, a decade full of pop culture, social changes and, of course, the rise of portable technology.
Starring Nicolás Haza, Axel Madrazo, Camila Calónico, Virgil Delgado y Macarena Ozthe series follows a group of five teenagers who run a clandestine business at their high school: selling homework and assignments to their peers. Their advantage? No one suspects the nerds.
But as her popularity and earnings grow, so do the complications that come with age, from the awakening of hormones to conflicts in friendships. All of this puts at risk not only her lucrative business, but also her personal relationships.
Nobody will miss us has a top-notch creative team. The production is headed by the showrunner Silvana Aguirre (El Chapo), the director Catherine Eagle Mastretta (Cindy the Regal) and award-winning filmmaker Samuel Kishi Leopo (The Wolves). The scripts were developed by Adriana Pelusi (Control Z) y Gibrán Portela (Güeros), while production is handled by The Immigrant.
Set in 1994, just before the economic crisis that shook Mexico, the series not only captures the essence of the time with its setting and plot, but also features an impressive soundtrack which brings together the most iconic hits of the 90s, as well as an unreleased song performed by Julieta Venegas.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the series is its impressive production design. The attention to detail in the colour palette, costumes and spaces faithfully recreates the atmosphere of the 90s. From the school uniforms to the spaces where the plot takes place, every element is carefully designed to take viewers back in time to an era that marked an entire generation.
The series consists of eight episodes that will be available in Prime Video from the August 9threaching more than 240 countries and territories.
In recent interviews, the stars shared their experiences recreating the 90s. Virgil Delgadowho plays the student with the highest average in the group, commented on how his character is the brains behind the “doing homework” business.
Meanwhile, Axel Madrazo He stressed that themes such as bullying, friendship and self-image are central to the series. Macarena Ozwho plays a talented girl and leader of the group, said that the directors provided them with many references to understand the era, adding: “I wish I had lived in that era, we went into the music of the time and if our generation doesn’t know them, they can get to know them through this series.”
For its part, Nicolás Haza He described the project as “amazing,” noting that pre-production was extensive, which allowed everything to fit together perfectly. He stressed that, although the story has many facets, what really captivates are the characters, and how each of them is key to the development of the plot.
