The extremely rare side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine involving platelet deficiency in combination with blood clots has nothing to do with classical thrombosis. This is what cardiologist Thomas Vanassche of UZ Leuven said on Saturday during the weekly press briefing of the vaccination task force. “Anyone who wants to prevent thrombosis should just get vaccinated,” he said. Because anyone who ends up in hospital with corona has a 60 percent chance of a thrombosis, much more than 0.0006 percent after vaccination with AstraZeneca.
