Late Sunday night, Izurieta indicated that he no longer considers it “correct” to talk about exit polls when asked by journalists about unofficial data.
By insisting that the official declaration of the Government will take place on Monday, without mentioning a defined time, Izurieta confirmed that this Sunday has been a “very important day, where the Ecuadorian people spoke.”
“We have to wait patiently” for the official results, he said as he advanced, without details, that “there is an atmosphere of great optimism. We are happy”.

More than 13.6 million Ecuadorians were called to the polls this Sunday, of which around 72% participated in the process, according to the CNE.
