Noboa has highlighted the initiative of “strength and decision.” “In a complex and unprecedented situation that the country is experiencing, I have made exceptional decisions to protect national security, the rule of law and the dignity of a people who reject any type of impunity for criminals, delinquents, corrupt people or narco-terrorists,” he said. noted in an official statement.

He has thus defended his obligation to “comply with the rulings of justice.” For this reason, “we could not allow the asylum of convicted criminals involved in very serious crimes” and this is supported by Article III of the Caracas Agreement, Article I of the Montevideo Convention, and Article 41 of the Vienna Convention. . “Ecuador is a country of peace and justice, which respects all nations and international law,” he stressed.

Noboa has criticized those within Ecuador “who have put their interests and political project above sovereignty, dignity and justice.” “Others have tried to turn it into an ideological struggle, trying to pigeonhole me into an extreme of which I have never been a part,” he indicated in reference to the extreme right accusations.

“Finally, some outdated Ecuadorian politicians have asked Mexico to declare war on us, and the international community to sanction us economically, committing a betrayal of the Homeland never seen before,” he said.

Noboa has warned that “we are risking the country” and has made a call to participate and vote “for national dignity” in the popular consultation for the reform of the Constitution scheduled for April 21, highly criticized by the opposition for consider it mere propaganda.

The Ecuadorian president concludes his statement by expressing his gratitude to the National Police, the Armed Forces and his work team, “but above all, thank the millions of Ecuadorians who fight every day at my side for a new Ecuador.”
