Budapest: US’s Noah Lyles became the fastest player at the World Athletics Championships. Noah finished first in the men’s 100m final on the second day with a world leading time of 9.83 seconds. Botswana’s Lest Tebogo (9.88) won silver and Britain’s Charnell Hughes (9.88) won bronze.
Meanwhile, the Indian players again disappointed. Sarvesh Anil Kushar was eliminated in the men’s high jump qualification round and Santhosh Kumar Tamizharasan in the 400m hurdles heats. Santosh finished the heats in 50.46 seconds and was ranked 36th overall. Due to this, he could not reach the semi-finals. Sarvesh, who cleared 2.22m in his first attempt in high jump, failed to clear 2.25m.
The Indian players could not do much in the men’s triple jump and 1500m heats which were held late at night Indian time. All were eliminated without reaching the finals. Malayali Abdullah Abubakar’s best performance in triple jump. The qualifying mark was 17.15 meters. Or the first 12 people will be admitted to the final. Abdullah jumped 16.61 meters and finished 15th. Praveen Chitravel finished 20th with 16.38 meters and Eldos Paul, another Malayali player, finished 29th with 15.59 meters. India’s Ajay Kumar Saroj finished 13th in the 1500m heats with a time of 3 minutes 38.24 seconds.
