NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center Weekly Highlights and Forecast: November 20-26, 2023

This week geomagnetic activity remains at low levels; a gradual increase is possible in the second half of the week.

Forecast of solar and geomagnetic activity for the week of November 20 – 26, 2023 published US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Weather Prediction Center.

Solar activity is expected to be low with M-class (R1 – negligible) chances until November 22.

The solar wind environment is experiencing intensification from the coronal mass ejection that left the Sun on November 16th. The event will end on November 20th.

The geomagnetic field will reach G1 (minor) geomagnetic storm level on November 20 due to the expected arrival of a coronal mass ejection on November 16. An increase to active levels is likely from November 22 to December 1, the greatest activity is expected on November 21-25 and 27-28 due to the beginning of the positive polarity of high-speed coronal hole streams.

Let us recall that we previously wrote whether solar flares and magnetic storms can affect human health.
