YouTube announced this on its Twitter account.
“We’ve been finishing with Rewind every year since 2010. It’s a look back at the major creators, videos and trends,” the site said. “But 2020 was different. And it feels wrong to continue as if nothing was wrong. So we skip the Rewind this time.”

The video giant seems to refer to, among other things, the corona pandemic, which made the year different for many people. The company does thank all makers who did have a positive impact on 2020.
The Rewind video in 2018 was the worst-rated video ever on the platform, after which it was decided to do things differently in 2019. Then the video consisted of short images from the YouTubers themselves.
