Continuation and end of the first day of La Liga this Monday evening. The day after Real Madrid’s draw in Mallorca (1-1), it was Atlético de Madrid’s great rivals who celebrated their big debut in the league this season, on the pitch of the Cerámica stadium to challenge Villarreal. A very good match to round off the first weekend. On the Colchoneros side, we found several recruits including Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sørloth in the starting eleven concocted by Diego Simeone. Nevertheless, Julian Alvarez started on the substitutes’ bench. The match lived up to its promise with a very solid battle between the two Spanish clubs.

Villarreal opened the scoring with Arnaut Danjuma’s opener (18th). Marcos Llorente, however, equalised for his team a few minutes later (20th), quickly putting the score back to zero. Shortly before the break, Koke was at fault for an own goal, allowing the home team to regain the lead (37th). But with extra time extended, Alexander Sørloth scored his first goal in the colours of the Colchoneros (45th + 6), allowing Atlético to equalise a second time. Despite a fierce battle, neither team managed to take the lead and the score was logically tied (2-2).
