The stricken lines stretched across the eastern Netherlands. Train traffic from Hengelo, Deventer and Apeldoorn could not continue to Arnhem, just like the lines from Geldermalsen, Ede-Wageningen, the Achterhoek, Liemers and Germany. Train traffic from the south to and from Venlo and Den Bosch was halted.
Travelers had to count on an extra travel time of up to 120 minutes.

According to ProRail, the cause of the malfunction in Arnhem was in the systems of traffic control posts there. Train traffic was therefore not possible to and from the Gelderland capital. The Dutch Railways deployed stop buses to and from the stations.
