There are still ten matchdays left in the current Bundesliga season in which all decisions are still pending. That everything is open would probably be saying too much. FC Bayern will not let the championship title be snatched away, and hardly anyone believes that SpVgg Greuther Fürth will stay in the league. However, the past month has shown that the league is currently fairly balanced.
In the four match days of February, no team managed to remain undefeated. FC Bayern made a fool of themselves at VfL Bochum, Borussia Dortmund conceded a clap from Bayer Leverkusen, the Werkself lost at FSV Mainz 05. Rheinhessen also inflicted TSG Hoffenheim’s only defeat in February, while RB Leipzig only lost at Bayern. The table for February is so incredibly tight: the entire top half of the table has scored nine or seven points!
Leverkusen ahead of Leipzig, Bayern and Hoffenheim
Ultimately, only the higher number of goals scored and the goal difference make the difference at the top, from which Leverkusen greets. Nine points and 14:7 goals make the Werkself the best team of February. Leipzig, Bayern and Hoffenheim are tied behind. Among the teams with seven points from four games in February, Dortmund have the best goal difference, followed by VfL Wolfsburg, SC Freiburg, Mainz and 1.FC Köln.
Only Hertha and VfB without a win
Things are also getting tight at the lower end of the February table. Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart are the only teams to have not won in the past month and are therefore in the relegation zone. Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt didn’t get through February much better either, with three bankruptcies and one win. Greuther Fürth, on the other hand, can be quite satisfied with four points, even if it will probably not be enough to save them after the entire season.
