After a persistent search, Chinese authorities said no survivors had been found near the wreckage in yesterday’s crash. Hundreds of volunteers and firefighters continue the search today, but their efforts have not yielded results.
A passenger plane with 132 people on board crashed in southwest China. The China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 was flying from Kunming to Guangzhou when it lost contact with air traffic controllers over the city of Wuzhou in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority said. There were 123 passengers and 9 crew members.
Chinese state television reported that the plane crashed in Ting County near Wuzhou, causing a fire in the mountains. And that rescue teams were sent to the scene. A villager told a local news site that the fallen car had completely disintegrated into pieces, and he saw the forest destroyed by the subsequent fire, AFP reported. Anxiety about the fate of the plane began to appear on Monday afternoon local time, after the flight did not arrive on time in Guangzhou after taking off shortly after 13 hours (7 hours Bulgarian time) from Kunming.
