No surprises in the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest. The three favorites from this selection have all qualified for the final: Switzerland, Bulgaria and Iceland.

Greece, Finland, San Marino and Portugal can also return on Saturday, which was predicted. The remaining three final tickets, which were more divided, go to Albania, Moldova and Serbia.

The Icelanders of Daði og Gagnamagnið could not perform live, because one of the six group members tested positive for the corona virus. That is why the group is in quarantine at their hotel. Instead, footage from one of their rehearsals was used.

Such a recording will also be used on Saturday during the final. Iceland is a shade favorite with their charming, nerdy song 10 years and their green sweaters.

Ten countries had already made it through the first semifinal, including Belgium. With that, all 26 finalists are known. Italy is the outspoken favorite with a rock act on Saturday. The Southern European country has been directly placed as one of the five major donors of the festival.

France, also one of the so-called, is in second place among bookmakers Big Five. Our southern neighbors send in a chanson à la Édith Piaf. Malta, with a power song about body positivity, ranks third in predictions. They were in the same (first) semifinal as Hooverphonic on Tuesday.

Switzerland is fourth in the predictions. Their dramatic entry, The whole universe by singer Gjon’s Tears, has a Belgian edge. It was co-written by the Belgian Nina Sampermans, who sang with – yes – Hooverphonic. Belgium is in the middle of the betting shops, although frontman Alex Callier has expressed his belief about a place in the top 5.
