VIVA Lifestyle – Food expert at the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Nugraha Edhi Suyatma, said that until now there has not been a single study which states that Bisphenol A (BPA), can cause infertility and cancer. According to him, one BPA test to arrive at that conclusion cannot be just one, but there must be many studies or research.
“The test can’t be just one. That’s why there is such a thing as meta-analysis, that is, many studies, many studies, analyzed and combined. However, if there is only one party, it is not necessarily the same as other research that has carried out,” said Nugraha in a statement, Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Therefore, he questioned what was conveyed by a lecturer at the UGM Health Policy and Management Department, Diah Ayu Puspandari, who stated that the BPA had caused infertility at the workshop held by BPOM some time ago.
“If I was present at the event, I might be able to ask the UGM expert who stated that BPA causes infertility, so the state’s losses could reach several trillions. Is it true that the intended sterility was caused by BPA,” he said.

Several parties in the last two years are considered to have tried to carry out a negative campaign through fear mongering (spreading fear) towards gallon bottled water products made from polycarbonate (PC) which have been circulating for more than 30 years and are consumed safely by millions of consumers in Indonesia.
