“No Sports!”: Bundesliga hopeful fails medical check | Sportmix

For eight days the Basketball player BG Göttingen is preparing for the new season of the Easycredit BBL – and already there is the first setback: new signing Noah Churchill Sörensen (21) is not fit for action!

The Dane has a bad knee and is expected to be out until the end of the year. The BG officials were apparently not aware of this when they gave the talent from the Danish champions Bakken Bears a two-year contract…

During the obligatory medical check after arrival, the BG doctors discovered that Sörensen was suffering from bone edema (fluid retention) in his knee!

The guard had surgery on Tuesday and is doing his rehab in Göttingen. As with his famous namesake, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the rule is “No Sports!” for now. According to the press release, Sörensen will not be back on the court until January. It goes on to say: “There are currently no plans to sign another player.”

Coach Oliver Foucart (40) is keeping the option open should he find that there is a need during the seven test matches.

Especially since it has now been confirmed that captain Harper Kamp (35) will not return as a player. The American center with a German passport also has to end his career due to a knee injury from May 2023 (!). “I need a little distance from basketball first,” says Kamp, who fought in vain for his comeback for an entire season.

BG coach Foucart still sees the team on the right track. The other seven new players have made a good first impression. “They have a good mentality, they work hard,” said the Belgian in the “HNA”. “The boys are hungry.”

Nevertheless, before the first test on Friday against second division team Phoenix Hagen, he has set a cautious goal for the season: “Our sporting goal is to stay in the league. Another goal is the play-ins” – that is, seventh to tenth place.
