The federal agency indicated that 90 percent of the establishments in the port of Acapulco and surrounding areas are operating normally and no complaints have been received against the suppliers of goods, products or services for any abusive practices.
He added that one week after implementing the supervision tours, the staff will continue monitoring the prices of basic products.
Iván Escalante, head of Profeco, recalled that the agency is there to seek and protect the rights and interests of consumers, which is why the trust defense brigade has carried out 159 supervisions in tortilla shops, public markets, department stores, convenience stores. convenience, chicken shops and at the entity’s Supply Central.
Escalante explained that the reviews carried out by the Profeco team are to ensure compliance with the provisions of Article 10 Bis of the Federal Consumer Protection Law, which establishes that “suppliers may not unjustifiably increase prices due to natural phenomena. , meteorological or health contingencies.”
The official urged suppliers not to increase the prices of basic basket products or construction materials in the face of the emergency that the population is experiencing in the state.
Escalante indicated that in the event that a store commits abuse, it could be fined based on the provisions of the law.
