The presentation of the Music Industry Awards (MIAs) is canceled next year. Again a consequence of corona. “You cannot ignore the fact that 2020 will go down in history as a broken music year”, it sounds at the VRT.

Music fans may delete February 11, 2021 from their agenda: the planned presentation of the Music Industry Awards, the most important homegrown music awards, will not take place. Instead, the aim is February 3, 2022. That should be a ‘double edition’, which will also include artists and releases that broke pots this year. That’s what organizers VRT and VI.BE say.
“You cannot ignore the fact that 2020 will go down in history as a broken music year. There are significantly fewer releases and the live circuit is virtually non-existent. The music industry is paralyzed. Organizing a big music party is not recommended because of the known health risks. And also practically and financially difficult to achieve. We therefore want to support the sector in a different way ”, says Gerrit Kerremans, music coordinator of the VRT.
A Week of Belgian Music will come instead next spring. The concrete interpretation of this will follow later.
