Dissatisfaction about the new newspaper contract, among other things, leads to a strike at Bpost in Wallonia. The Flemish trade unions are not participating and want to give the consultation another chance.
Due to the announced strike at Bpost, no newspapers, letters and parcels will be distributed in Wallonia today. Brussels will also be affected. The French-speaking unions at the postal company confirmed this on Saturday. CSC Transcom and CGSP Poste expect their actions to last weeks and to lead to an escalation on Wednesday. They are mainly inspired by the unrest about the ongoing negotiations regarding the new newspaper distribution. “The actions will gradually increase, to bring everything to a standstill on Wednesday,” warns Thierry Tasset, secretary general of the socialist CGSP Poste. Bpost regrets the situation and says it wants to give priority to social consultation.
The Flemish trade unions had already said last week that they did not want to participate in the actions for the time being and wanted to give negotiations about newspaper distribution every opportunity. (belga)
