No points against AKA Austria Vienna

AKA Austria Wien U18 – AKA SV Ried U18 8:0

In the game against Austria Vienna, our young Vikings faced a big challenge. Our players showed weaknesses, especially in defense, which the opponents exploited mercilessly. The themes of “dueling”, “chain behavior” and “box defense” were not implemented well enough in many phases of the game. Austria Vienna repeatedly found gaps in our defense and played through them efficiently. Our defense had difficulty keeping the pitch compact and the pressing was not implemented consistently, which left the opponent too much space. What was particularly noticeable was that there was a lack of the necessary assertiveness in the 1-on-1 situations. The physically and playfully superior Viennese dominated the duels and repeatedly put our defense in trouble. Despite intensive efforts, there was a lack of duel quality to win the decisive duels. However, this game also gave us valuable insights. We will clearly work on the deficits shown and continue to develop in our individual duel management and defensive behavior as a group and team in order to achieve a better result in future games.

U18-Trainer Thallinger:

“Today’s game clearly showed that our boys still have a lot of development potential in the defensive phase. We will continue to intensively address aspects such as duel management, consistently generating ball pressure, stringent shifting and defense in and around the penalty area. We will focus even more specifically on individual duel management in order to be able to assert ourselves better in direct duels in the future.”

AKA Austria Wien U16 – AKA SV Ried U16 6:0

Our U16s were brought down to earth after the away game in Vienna against Austria. The game started just as badly as it ended, and Austria took the lead 1-0 after just 2 minutes – after 15 minutes the young Austrians increased it to 2-0 and only then did our young Vikings start to play, be brave and more intense, where they were able to create two big chances and had a few more decent penalty area scenes. It was an open game until shortly before half-time, before Austria put the lid on it with a double strike shortly before half-time! There were no more major events in the second half – the Young Vikings were no longer even able to cosmeticize their results because the few chances in HZ were not taken advantage of.

U16-Trainer Omic:

“A deserved defeat today in Vienna favorites. We were there in the game, but not decisive in the crucial scenes. We were the poorer quality team in both penalty areas that day. If we don’t bring the basics to the pitch, we could lose to anyone. If we bring these to the pitch every day, especially on match day, we can be successful against any team!”

AKA Austria Wien U15 – AKA SV Ried U15 4:0

In a very one-sided game, our U15s had to admit defeat 0-4. The hosts were the better team for 80 minutes and so the result was perfectly acceptable even at this level. The game only knew one direction from the start, and that was towards the goal of our U15 juniors. After 20 minutes we got the deserved lead after a corner. Shortly before half time the score was 0:2.
In the second half it was the same picture, with Austria going forward and our U15s busy defending their own goal. So the goals in the second half to make it 0:3 and 0:4 were only logical
Consequence. Our U15s only came into danger in front of the goal once in the second half, with a well-taken free kick from Kenan Skurlic that just went over the Vienna Austria goal. So in the end it was a well-deserved victory for the hosts.

U15 coach carrier:
“Today we have to realize that the opponent was superior to us in all respects, both physically and in terms of play, and so we have to accept this defeat without envy, including in terms of height. Nevertheless, we cannot simply accept this defeat. On the one hand, I missed the gall in the game against the ball; we wanted to be disgusting from the start and keep the hosts, who may have been individually stronger, in check through the collective. However, we were unable to get this plan off the ground. So we were often a step too late and not consistent enough in the duels. The 0:3 and 0:4 is somewhat symptomatic of our game against the ball. And even in the few moments of transition we had, we often didn’t make the right decision or didn’t execute it properly technically. Now it’s important to continue working diligently at the training ground so that we can do better in the future.”
