Paper documents of public transport vehicles in Sofia will be suspended from sale from January 1, reports the Center for Urban Mobility (CGM) on its website.
These are BGN 1.60 single-ride card, BGN 12.00 10-ride coupon card and BGN 4.00 all-line paper day pass. These documents will be valid until March 1, 2023, after such date, unused valuable samples will not be subject to exchange or refund. In their place, new electronic equivalents are being introduced.
From there, they recall that from January 1, 2023 some of the subscriptions offered up to now will also be discontinued:
– Three-day card for all lines;
– Monthly for a land transport line;
– Monthly – for Metro;
– Monthly – metro “plus” – for metro and a land transport line;
– Quarterly – for all lines;
– Six months – for all lines;
Paid season tickets can be used until the deadline for which they were issued, but no later than 12.31.2023, specifies CGM.
There will also be a change in the transport documents for the Metro, as from 1 January 2023, electronic cards charged for 10 one-time Metro journeys at the price of BGN 12.00 will be discontinued from sale. Passengers who loaded their cards before that date will be able to use the tickets purchased until 31.03.2022.
In July this year, the Metropolitan Municipal Council approved amendments to the Ordinance on the terms and conditions for travel by urban public transport in the territory of the Metropolitan Municipality, introducing electronic transport documents.
