Thiruvananthapuram: The video presentation of the award winners at the State Film Awards, which was the only reception without award presentation, was also cut short. After the inaugural address, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that he was not the only role model in awarding the 100 awards.
After he presented a few awards, everyone thought that the others would be presented by other distinguished guests. However, the Chief Minister said that the award should not be handed over but should be placed on the table in front of the venue and the winners should be honored when it comes.
In his welcome address, Chalachithra Academy Chairman Kamal had requested that no one should take off his mask when he arrives to receive the award from the Chief Minister. But after the Chief Minister’s speech, Kamal was confused as to what he meant. The ceremony was held after asking the Chief Minister for clarification.
The postage stamp and envelope issued in connection with the award ceremony were first brought to the table. This was accepted by the Chief Minister and released. He then handed over the 50-year-old award souvenir to Mayor Arya Rajendra and unveiled it. But he was not even ready to hand over the JC Daniel Award, the government’s highest film award.
K Jayakumar, a former chief secretary who came to receive the award on behalf of director Hariharan, was hesitant to accept the award but gestured to the chief minister to accept it. He smiled and picked up the award plaque from the table. It continued.
Kamal, wearing gloves, picked up the plates brought by the gloved girls and placed them on the table. The award winners returned from the stage after posing for a photo with the Chief Minister.
When the award winners are invited, a video of their achievement is displayed on the screen behind the stage. Videos were made for this. However, he feared that the Chief Minister would be dissatisfied if the function was delayed due to this.
After receiving the award, the Chief Minister left the venue without waiting for the reply speeches. Two weeks ago, when the State Television Awards were held at Nisha Ayyankali Hall, all the awards were presented by Minister Kadakampally Surendran.
