As Minister of Culture, she is also Minister of Sports, and in an interview with Klassekampen, she is clear that she will say no if she receives an invitation from Qatar.
– It is also not relevant for people from the Norwegian government to travel. I do not want to say anything about what level football itself should be at, she says.
Among other things, she points to the latest controversy, the arrest of NRK’s journalists, and makes it clear that the government will be heavily involved in that case.
She is also very disappointed with the way Fifa has reacted after the arrest of the two Norwegian journalists.
– They had a chance to take a stand, but they let that chance go, says Trettebergstuen.
Liberal Party leader Guri Melby is happy with the signal from the Minister of Sports, and argues that no parliamentary representatives should travel to the championship either.
– I think Norwegians in general should think about it too, she says.
