/ world today news/ Today I listened with astonishment as Minister Bachvarova explained on the national radio that if the law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not adopted by the National Assembly, she will introduce it again. The BSP as the main opposition force, the police unions and employees, the parties from the majority and even GERB spoke out against this law, one by one. No one, except Bachvarova and Borisov, defends the absurd idea of limiting the rights of police officers and bleeding the Ministry of Internal Affairs at this very difficult moment of increased terrorist threat and refugee crisis.
As for Bachvarova’s statement that the BSP opposes the law because it is against the reform, I will remind you that in 2014 we adopted a completely new law on the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We prepared it in dialogue with the unions. We did it without turning the page upside down. We voted for it, despite the constant sabotage of the GERB group.
In fact, Madam Minister, if you persist in your stubbornness, introduce this bill and it will be rejected – the politically responsible action is not to stomp your foot in anger, but to resign, as you and your team will be shamed by the highest authority in this country. Just for information, because you seem to be confused, the highest authority in Bulgaria is the National Assembly, not the Prime Minister.
