A lecturer from the Unusa Nutrition Undergraduate Study Program (Prodi) Rizki Nurmalya Kardina said meat infected with Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD) cannot be distinguished by the naked eye. In order to avoid this, he also explained to the public about how to cook meat properly and correctly to avoid risks.
First, Rizki said, keep your hands clean when cooking meat. “If the meat has not been processed, don’t wash it, it’s better to transfer it to an airtight container and store it in an airtight container” freezer,” said Rizki.
Second, the meat must be cooked until it is perfectly cooked at a temperature of 700 Celsius for 30 minutes and the first cooking water must be discarded and then processed. In addition, offal that you want to consume should be boiled with boiling water first. Boiling time for 30 minutes before being processed or stored in the refrigerator.
“Meat packaging that is affected by FMD should not be thrown away immediately, but must be soaked first with detergent to prevent transmission of the virus,” he said.
According to him, meat affected by the FMD virus can still be consumed as long as it goes through the process of cooking the meat properly. “If you have consumed meat, don’t forget to eat vegetables and fruits,” he said.
