JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Florona or multiple viral infections, namely influenza and Covid-19, which recently occurred in Israel, apparently do not need to be so worried about by the Indonesian people.
Because, according to Zubairi Djoerban, Chair of the Covid-19 Task Force for the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), the possibility of Florona’s case spreading in Indonesia is very small.
“Incidentally, for Indonesia, (the conditions) are very different from America, Britain and Europe. Influenza is not widely known in Indonesia,” said Zubairi to KOMPAS.TV, Tuesday (4/1/2022).
Zubairi explained that respiratory disorders such as coughing, sneezing, and runny noses that are often found in Indonesia are not influenza, but rather common cold or the common cold.
“If there is influenza there (America and Europe), it can cause pneumonia until death. Therefore (its citizens) must be vaccinated (influenza) every year,” explained Zubairi.
“So, the Indonesian people do not need to worry because the possibility of influenza spreading until now is still very small,” he added.
In other words, if influenza is rarely found in Indonesia, it can be concluded that the case of Florona is the same.
Then, Zubairi also said that actually Florona was thought to have appeared since the initial phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“At the beginning of the pandemic, a lot of people were taking anti-influenza drugs like oseltamivir or tamiflu to treat (Covid-19),” said Zubairi.
