Member of Commission I DPR Effendi Simbolon encouraged President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) take a role related to the resolution of the Russia vs Ukraine conflict. Effendi believes that Jokowi also needs to come directly to Ukraine.
“Cook the President of Turkey, the President of Israel, the President of China, who took the role. The President of Indonesia, who happened to be as official is the presidency of the G20, which is one of the memberit is Russia and it is at war with almost all of the G20 members,” said Effendi in a working meeting of Commission I with the Foreign Minister at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/4/2022).
Effendi reminded that Indonesia should not be limited to being the organizer of the G20 without taking a role. In fact, according to him, Jokowi actually checked the preparations for the G20 which should not have been checked by the president.
“That’s why I often say, how come we are only limited to organizers, only successful in EO. He may have been to Bali 3 or 4 times to check this, that’s what doesn’t need to be checked. check that. But our point is how is this momentum, place that we are the G20 presidency,” he said.
Furthermore, Effendi assessed that now is the momentum for Indonesia to take a role in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, the DPR member from the PDIP faction suggested that Jokowi visit Russia.
“I believe this is an opportunity. When there is an ice between western countries and America, and their allies, and ex-federation countries, eastern countries, and when our President becomes the presidency, leaving the G20 is not a political forum. But who can separate the economy with politics? Why not play? Please visit Russia,” he said.
“A visit to Russia was accompanied by this great Minister of Foreign Affairs. He took a photo of him shaking hands. That’s an extraordinary selling point. You don’t have to teach Mr. Jokowi, let God do the work. teach he. To Russia and Ukraine, to Kiev. How many times have we been there? It’s a beautiful place,” continued Effendi.
