No more white voice actors in The Simpsons for non-white characters

The change was announced in a short statement from Fox Studios. It is not told which characters are involved and which actors will then speak.

These are probably characters voiced by actor Hank Azaria. He voiced the voices of black agent Lou, Mexican Bumblebee Man and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, a grocer of Indian origin.

Last January, Azaria announced that he will stop playing Apu. He did that in consultation with Fox. There is a lot of criticism of the character, because the interpretation would be racist.

The Simpsons has been on television for over 30 years. It is one of the longest running series in the US and is still popular.

Also other series

Other series also make adjustments. Actor Mike Henry announced that he would stop speaking Cleveland in the Family Guy series. “I love this character, but he should be voiced by a black actor,” he said. Jenny Slate stopped speaking to Missy from the Netflix animated series Big Mouth.
