Siri is so useless! Especially after the advent of ChatGPT, Siri is just a voice responder, and the more you use it, the more useless it becomes. The new iOS 17 system that will be used in the iPhone 15 series, SIri has been greatly upgraded! Want to know the connection point? Let’s take a look together!
Full support for Speech to Text speech to text
Speech To Text speech-to-text technology is actually very mature and easy to use, allowing people to break language barriers between people. In the iOS 17 system of the iPhone 15 series, the Siri function, which already has preliminary conversation capabilities, has been upgraded. You can ask Siri to read articles to you on the iPhone 15 series! Speech-to-text technology is a great boon for people who are visually impaired, want to rest their eyes, or are busy doing other things. While speech-to-text has been available for a while, asking Siri to read any open article is a new iOS 17 feature.
Tutorial: How to ask Siri to read an article aloud
On your iOS 17 device (iPhone 15 and supported models, click here), open any article, like the one you’re reading now, in Safari. Next, activate Siri and say, “Read the screen.” You can use the “Siri” voice command to activate the voice assistant, or hold down the power button to do this. The moderator has tried using Siri to call up the “Read Screen” function (the first time you use it, you will be asked to set up the “Read Screen” function first. You can also go to the “Voice Content” settings page and select “Sound”> ” Chinese” and if you want to find a Hong Kong accent, you can choose the voice of “Ah Cheng”, “Shan Yi” or “Siri” to read aloud), but there is a disadvantage. For example, if you call up Siri on the ePrice website to read the screen, it will be read by the latest Reading begins at the top, including the advertisement, rather than reading directly from the article content.
To solve the above problem, you can also ask Siri to read the article aloud by clicking the “Size” button on the left side of the address bar and selecting “Listen to Web Pages”. You’ll hear an alert, and then Siri will start reading the article for you. You can start reading directly from my article. You can click the Size button again to skip, go back, increase speaking speed, or end listening.
A simple gesture to ask Siri to read an article aloud
There’s another way to ask Siri to read an article to you. To use it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Speech content and enable Speak Screen. Once you’re done, open any article in Safari and swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers. You’ll now hear Siri read the article to you. This means it will read what’s on the screen in any app on your iPhone.
Some websites are not compatible
Siri’s article reading function relies on Safari’s reading mode. Some websites block reading mode entirely, which means Siri won’t be able to read those pages to you. In other cases, Reading Mode may not render the entire article, but instead selects random sections and leaves out large chunks of text. In these cases, Siri will speak only those portions that are displayed in reading mode.
With iOS 17, Siri’s read-aloud function provides users with a new experience, making reading more convenient and fun. Whether you’re in a busy kitchen or on the road, you can enjoy this convenient feature. However, since it is still in the testing phase, you still need to be careful when using it. If you haven’t tried it yet, maybe now is the time to make Siri your personal reading assistant!
