People are getting stock of mineral water en masse now that Brabant Water has found E. coli bacteria in drinking water in Boxtel and the surrounding area. The shelves in supermarkets in Boxtel are completely empty. “The question is whether we will have water on Wednesday,” said a worker. “We asked for that, but maybe that’s not enough time. We’ve ordered more for Thursday anyway.”
Since the discovery of the poop bacteria, a boil advisory has been in place for residents of Boxtel, Liempde, Olland and Lennisheuvel who want to drink their tap water. When this became known on Tuesday night, residents of Boxtel went to the store en masse to stock up on mineral water.
At Jumbo Oosterhof they couldn’t handle the crowd, says an employee. “It went so fast that we couldn’t keep up. Suddenly there was a storm and there was chaos. We don’t have mineral water anymore.”

The last bottles of sparkling water were recalled to a Jumbo customer. “Yes, but my dog only drinks water. That’s only boiling water.”
The shelves are also empty at Albert Heijn. A customer says he has never seen such a crowd. Spring water is completely sold out. Customers were allowed to take a maximum of two bottles.
Small traces
“Minor traces” of potentially pathogenic E. coli bacteria were found in the drinking water on Tuesday. According to Brabant Water, the water can only be drunk if it has been boiled for at least three minutes beforehand. According to Brabant Water, the council is expected to be involved in a few days.
