It is not uncommon for chases to turn into drama, and it is not uncommon for such dramas to lead to riots. In Sarcelles, it was therefore decided not to prosecute vehicles refusing to comply and those who do wild rodeos. Initiative that is not to everyone’s taste, according to Le Parisien.

Commissioner Fabienne Azalbert, head of the Sarcelles police station, in a recent note, reminded agents that “taking charge of a motorized vehicle” is prohibited, informs Le Parisien. Exception made for “the author of a crime of flagrant blood”. For everything else, a report is provided for refusal to comply. Therefore, the owners of the two or four wheels in question will be summoned thereafter.

A decision that arouses discontent

The decision was not to everyone’s liking, the police officers quoted by the newspaper believing that it is a question of giving in “to the law of the cities” and that, for example, the drug trafficker who refuses to comply. will return to the police station once summoned, but empty-handed.

“No one will want to be checked as soon as this is known. This risks setting up lawless areas in difficult neighborhoods, ”writes at the microphone of Parisian Franck Lebas, departmental secretary of the SGP Police-FO unit union.

As a reminder, a similar experience has already taken place in the past, more precisely in 2015. However, in the summer of 2020 the prefect of Paris published a note authorizing the police to “take charge” of the victims. vehicles refusing to comply with the order of the police and to stop.

Anti-rodeo cells inspired by Sarcelles

This is not the first time that the name of Sarcelles is mentioned in the context of chases. Last April, Le Parisien reported that the Val-d’Oise police department had just created anti-rodeo cells, drawing inspiration from the example of Sarcelles where, since May 2020, the police do not go after the actors of the wild rodeos, advocating legal treatment.

“We have thus obtained legal results, including sentences of up to six months in prison with a committal warrant and the confiscation of the devices”, congratulated Fabienne Azalbert.
